This Privacy Policy explains how Free Deck Board Calculator (“we”, “us”, “our”), available at freedeckboardcalculator.com, handles information when you use our calculators and read our guides. Information we collect

Information you enter into the calculators

Measurements, prices and other inputs are processed by code running in your browser. When you use “Copy share link”, your inputs are placed in the web address (URL) so that anyone you send the link to sees the same calculation. Anyone with that link can see those inputs, so don't put personal information into calculator fields.

Information stored on your device

  • Saved plans: “Save on this device” stores your calculations in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device, and you can delete them from the saved-plans list or by clearing your browser's site data.
  • Offline files: to make the tools work without a connection, your browser may keep a copy of the site's pages, fonts and scripts in its cache. These files contain no personal information.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to fix or improve the site, and we keep it only as long as needed for that purpose.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log information when pages are requested — such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept for a limited period.

Cookies and advertising

We use (or may use) Google AdSense to show advertisements, which helps keep the site free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a consent message before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies won't stop the calculators from working.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages and calculators are visited, how long visits last, the type of device and browser, and the approximate location (country or city) derived from your IP address. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to do this. We only look at this information in aggregate to improve the site and don't use it to identify you. Google processes the data as described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in the cookie message, and you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Sharing of information

We don't sell your personal information. Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults planning home improvement projects. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Data security and retention

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Because calculator inputs stay in your browser, we don't keep a database of them. Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond, and server logs are kept for a limited period.

Our guides link to building codes, manufacturer instructions and other sources. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those websites; please review their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add analytics or change how ads are shown. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
